Chiropractic is a healthcare profession concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the effect of these disorders on the function of the nervous system and general health. There is an emphasis on spinal adjustment and other joint and soft tissue manipulation.
By restoring normal function to the musculoskeletal system, chiropractors can play an important role in relieving disorders, and any accompanying pain and discomfort arising from accidents, stress, lack of exercise, poor posture, and wear and tear that happens to many of us.
Chiropractors are not just focussed on pain. A problem may have been building up for some time before it becomes painful. They will take a rounded approach to your health and wellbeing, considering your symptoms in the context of your medical history, lifestyle and personal circumstances. Chiropractors have a specialist interest in neck pain and back pain, but when they assess patients take their entire physical, emotional and social wellbeing into account.

What to Expect
Initial Consultation, and Examination (30-45 minutes)
After you have completed a medical history form we will obtain a case history in as much detail as possible in order to fully understand your problem. You will have time to explain the condition comprehensively without being rushed. Then your Chiropractor will perform a physical examination employing orthopaedic tests and neurological asessment skills to assess the problem. Gowns are available to wear for this examination.
Report of Findings and First Chiropractic Treatment (30 minutes)
The report of findings can be given immediately after the consultation & examination, or at a follow up appointment in the following days. You will be given a clear and concise verbal report of the results of your consultation & examination appointment by your Chiropractor, and you will be able to ask questions. You will be given a diagnosis, and a care plan will be discussed if Chiropractic care is suitable. If you are happy to proceed, you will be asked to give your written consent to treatment and we can start with the first Chiropractic treatment sessions.
